ADVOCACY Parents often have questions about their child's IEP, their child's special educational program and many other questions. We are educational specialists trained in NJ Administrative Code and we know the law. We can also explain the law in layman terms so parents understand their legal rights and the processes that go along with special education law. We can work in isolation or we can work along side attorneys to hopefully provide a mediation service. We will refer to attorneys when necessary but often we can accomplish the same results without going to court, just by our presence and our skill. Sometimes attorneys will ask us to complete another evaluation on your child in order to present more information if a case is going to court. Please be assured if this is the case that we treat every case professionally and we consider your input invaluable. We also serve as an advocate for you to take along to meetings so that again, you have a professional who knows the law and your child's legal rights. This is often extremely helpful.

TESTING As licensed professionals, we have a complete child study team ready to help you. If appropriate and additional information is something you want to explore, we have a full list of specialists for you to chose from. All our personnel are appropriately certified according to the state of New Jersey and understand the code requirements for an evaluation. We may ask you to let us contact the school district in order to go in and observe your child. Often we can gather a great deal of information from checklists, observations, cummulative record reviews and discussion with teachers. This, however, would only be done if you were in agreement. We can also provide for a second opinion for you so that you can compare this information with the information you may have already received. We work with you and confidentiality is our professional practice. We can sometimes help you work through the process though, so that the school district agrees to pay for our services as a second opinion. Again, we can help you work through this process.
